A Small organization in need of a complex web site

After much research regarding what might be involved in building the site, I found a website that allows you to describe your project; then they forward the project description to hundreds of web design companies.

Using this service was a great idea, but I was overwhelmed by the number of companies that contacted me. I did not know which way to turn. Most took the approach of what is your budget, as opposed to…what do you want done.

One company stood out because their representative kept calling me. It got to the point that my assistant was saying call Ronn Campbell…he really wants to speak with you. I finally spoke with him. The decision to speak with Ronn Campbell was one of the best decisions I made during this process.

Ronn and I had a dinner meeting and discussed the project. He explained the business of having a presence on the web, and what that meant. He was patient, and answered all of my questions. He knew the Internet business, and he knew what it would take to build a site like the one we needed. He had a great deal of experience, and had worked on sites similar to ours in the past.

At the same time, he knew that our budget was limited, and seemed genuinely interested in our product, and what we wanted to achieve. He explained what skills we would need on the team that would build the site. I brought him a complexity of issues. They were:
  • Tight Time Frame. Our competition was eating us up because we were not on the Internet. We had to go live by January of the coming year, and it was July when Ronn and I had our first meeting.
  • Lack of Funds. We needed a $400,000 site on a $200,000 budget.
  • New to the Internet Arena. Initially, the staff would be of very little assistance; and would have to be taught as the site was developed.

It appeared to be a project destined for failure, but due to the quality of the team he brought together, and Ronn’s management of the project; amazingly, the site was ready for first testing in four months! They worked nights, and weekends. He brought in an information architect who designed the sites interface. Information architect, I thought, what the heck is an information architect?

I soon found out. Thank God for Ronn’s knowledge. The IA he brought in, convinced me that we were so content strong, what the interface would need to do was showcase the content. He designed an elegant…yet the simplistic navigation that we needed!

In addition to his knowledge, his sprit and positive can do attitude is energizing, and keeps you believing it can happen! Without his assistance, I am not at all sure we would have the site we have today. Visit www.eureka.org to get an idea. If you wish to view the site, ask STIYL for access codes.

Over the past three years, he has also assisted us with the ins and outs of Internet marketing, and we continue to work with him even today when assistance is needed.

You may not require a site as complex as ours, but no matter the size or how complex a site you want, I feel confident you will be happy with the results produced by this agency.
